Born in Janesville, Wisconsin, Steve spent the majority of his life in Beaverton, Oregon, attending Beaverton High School and later the University of Oregon. In his early 20s, he moved to Maui, Hawaii, and worked in the hospitality industry, doing what he loved—teaching vacationers how to sail catamarans and living a life of Aloha that he carried with him for the rest of his life.
Steve eventually returned to the Portland area but frequently traveled back to the island of Maui with family and friends, always carrying and sharing with others a deep respect for Hawaiian culture.
Upon returning to Oregon in the early '90s, he began a long, respected career in the dairy industry and cherished the countless relationships he built with his customers and co-workers, many of whom he considered friends.
He met his best friend and loving wife, Megan, in 1999 and married in 2001. In 2003, his son, Parker, was born – now grown and a student at Oregon State University, Parker was his absolute pride and joy. As a family, they shared their love of English Springer Spaniels and were blessed over the years with their dogs Stuart, Katie & Lucy.
Steve was a great listener, loved learning about every person he met, and always left people feeling better for having known him. He showed love to his entire family every day and held his many friendships close to his heart. We are devastated by the loss of this kind, gentle, and caring man. He leaves behind his loving family: wife Megan, son Parker, his parents Paul and Sandy Arbuthnot, siblings Lesli Arbuthnot and Larry (Janet) Arbuthnot, and nieces/nephew Allison Arbuthnot, Jiana Scipione, and Braden Arbuthnot.
A private family memorial will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens on Saturday, October 21st.
