Stanley (Stan) was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the eldest of four siblings born to Albert and Anona Stein. He graduated from West Linn high school and married his high school sweetheart, Shari Kendall, of Oregon City. With family help and encouragement, he went into business, first as the owner-operator of a small self-service laundry in Gladstone. While still living in Gladstone, Stan and Shari had two children, Scott and Sara Lee. Again, with family encouragement, Stan got into the wholesale liquor distributing business: Valley Beverage Company, in Hillsboro. He and Shari divorced in 1965. In 1969, he married his lifelong love, Wilma (Willi) Beyer. They were married for over 50 years, until Willi’s death in 2022. Willi had three daughters whom Stan loved: Peggy, Robin, and Sandy.
Stan enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years, and golfing and bowling later on. He enjoyed traveling with Willi and other family members. One of his favorite hobbies was model ship building, for which he was noted.
He was a man of intelligence and wide intellectual interests. He had a quick wit and a knack for telling a great story. He enjoyed his children, his friends, and his brothers and sister. Stan is survived by his sister, Shari Hill of Seattle, five children, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren.
As he would have wished it, there will be no memorial service for Stan.
