Ruth Elizabeth Dixson was born April 27th 1931 in Forgan Oklahoma to parents, Corry Dixson and Beulah Chester.
The second oldest of five children, she was preceded in death by her brothers William and James, and sister Alta Rosenboom.
Brother Elmer Dixson resides in Shelbina MO.
Ruth had vivid memories of growing up on the Dixson Homestead in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl and Great Depression. Living in Park Idaho and Portland Oregon, attending Franklin High School with her favorite singer Johnnie Ray.
She graduated from Redmond Oregon High School in 1949.
Moving back to Portland, Ruth worked for Kress and Co. and Shriner’s Hospital.
Ruth married Charles Edward Van Riper in 1952.
They had three children,
JoAnne Pemberton, Mark Alan, and David Lindsey.
Divorcing in 1964.
In 1964 she married
Warren H Cook, they had one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Singer.
Ruth worked in Retail Sales, and loved cats, saving the lives of “too many to count “ in her lifetime.
She will be interned at Willamette national cemetery next to her husband Warren, who preceded her in death in 2001.
