ROY WALTER TROUDT was born in Portland, Oregon on May 21, 1925; the youngest of six children born to Nicholas and Katerine Troudt (German descent, came to America in 1919 from Russia). After joining the US Navy and serving in the Asian Pacific arena from July 1943 through May 1946, Roy lived his entire life in Portland, Oregon.
Marrying Phyllis Jeanne Smith (Yakima, Washington) in 1948, saw the start of their family; with the birth of their son Barry (deceased), followed by daughters, Cynthia (married to Bob Schaper), Donna (married to Don Hartley)and son Richard (married to Teresa).
Roy supported his family by building an independant garbage collection company, "Roy's Sanitary Service," serving SW Portland. Roy not only supported his wife and children, but also became an employer and mentor to several young men.
During his off hours, Roy enjoyed fishing along the coast and the Columbia and Willamette Rivers of Oregon. For several years, Roy was a member of the Benevolent Order of the Elks, Beaverton, Oregon lodge. Whether it was fishing, working in his wood shop, playing twice monthly poker games with friends, or spending time around his home, Roy had a fulfilling life.
Roy will remain part of the lives of his wife, children, six grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
