Rose Marie Weitzel (nee Stenek) was born in Portland, Oregon on August 14, 1927. Just before passing, she returned to her first home. She found the sapling her father had planted just before the family moved. The sapling she had last seen as a little girl had grown into a towering tree. She was delighted. Her loving family shares the same delight and awe when considering the towering legacy she leaves us as she again moves on.
A dyed in the wool Oregonian (Pendleton Woolen Mills, no doubt) Rose would share the wonders of the Pacific Northwest with anyone who would listen. She loved the rain and would exclaim, “That is what keeps things green!” Even though she had the opportunity to travel throughout the United States and Spain, she always welcomed her return to the most beautiful place on earth, Oregon.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Willard Weitzel. “Willie” was her best friend. Rose would be the first to say he set the gold standard as a son, husband, and father. She maintained a steadfast zeal for life but never made amends with his loss. Her loving family is consoled by the fact that they are now reunited.
Rose lives on in the memories of her daughters, Pamela Lee Weitzel and Marta Marie Rupprecht, after school son and nephew Charles Albert Weitzel, grandsons Christophan Matthew Hauck, Oscar Andres Enriquez-Weitzel (Kristin), Ivan Agustin Enriquez-Weitzel (Duna), and Mario Luis Enriquez-Weitzel (Madi), five great grandchildren, special daughter Cindy Williams, and her dear nieces and nephews.
