Ronald met Mary Lee Reece in the early 1950’s and the couple was married in 1955 and remained together until Mary Lee’s passing in 2002. Together, they welcomed five children into the world. He worked at Crown Zellerbach Company in the gum tape division until his retirement in the late 1970’s.
He enjoyed photography, loved nature, and he loved being outdoors. After work he would go jogging or ride his bike around town and the family traveled the state camping and hiking on their vacations. He and Mary Lee enjoyed impromptu road trips, especially driving through the Gorge, and unexpected overnight stays.
At home, he enjoyed reading Clive Cussler and Louis L’Amour books, watching westerns, M.A.S.H., and James Bond movies. Family was important to him and he loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was a loving man and quite the jokester.
On October 10, 2015, Ronald passed away in Portland at the age of 85 surrounded by his family. He will be greatly missed by his children, Renee Hoye, David Kline, Tina Kline, and Alice Kline; grandchildren, Tyler Corpuz, Matthew Smith, Steven Smith, Aleisha Smith, and Ashley Hoye; and his great-grandchildren, Molly Smith, Odin Smith, Amber Smith, Isabella Smith, and Alex Logan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee, in 2002; and his daughter, Ann Corpuz, in 2004.
A graveside service will be held at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015, where he will be laid to rest.
