Ronald Ervin Altenburg, age 87, passed away peacefully September 20th, 2021. He was born November 29, 1934 in Portage (Stevens Point), Wisconsin to Fredrick & Marie Altenburg. He was a proud Air Force Veteran and completed his Doctorate in Nuclear Engineering in 1990. After a 30 year search he found the loves of his life Madia and her son Freddy on May 18, 1960. Madia passed on October 5, 2015.
Ron was a simple man who was raised on a farm and in the big city of Green Bay, he went on to become a successful business man and traveled to different places international and foreign. He used these experiences throughout his life whether it was fixing appliances or negotiating the best deal in town.
Food was Ron’s love language and he always found the best hole-in-the wall restaurants and was very well known at them all. He would cook his famous homemade chili or take his family out for dinner to the traditional Vince's Spaghetti House. This passion would continue on to his grandchildren by picking them up from school and taking them for a burger and shakes or to enjoy a soft serve ice cream cone.
Music was another passion of Ron’s he was a skilled player of the accordion and later was accompanied by Madia on the piano. He was also was a devoted Catholic and a dedicated member of the church choir with his wife for over 20 years. Ron was truly an amazing person and made friends everywhere he went. His face would light up with his beautiful smile with the old school Dean Martin charm which made him popular with everyone. With his passing, a piece of our hearts are missing him, and he has left us with so many wonderful memories. We miss his daily routine and his funny habits. Ron will be missed dearly by all.

Ronald is survived by his sister Charlene Prain, two brothers & spouses Gerald & Sandy Altenburg, Fred & Shara Altenburg, brother in law John Womble, Sister in law Chong Altenburg, his son and spouse Fred & Jeannetta Altenburg, Daughter and spouse Debbie & Martin Smith, four grandchildren and spouses Jill & Zachary Gustin, Nicole & Justin Jefferson, Ronald & Cati Wilkinson, Rachel Altenburg, his three great grandchildren Jayden Jefferson , Bailey Jefferson and Jackson Gustin, along with his many nieces and nephews to whom he all deeply loved and adored.
