Robert Williams Jr. was born on June 28th, 1933 to parents Robert and Margaret Williams in Council Bluffs, Iowa. In the summer of 1941, Robert and his family moved to Portland, Oregon. Robert grew up in Portland, and graduating from Washington High School in June of 1951. After high school he decided to serve our country by joining the army, and after that he attended Portland State University. Robert married his high school sweetheart, Gwendolyn, in 1953. He was a religious and patriotic man, attending the New Hope church regularly and many years later, that was where he met his second wife, Kyle, and they were married in 1985.
Robert will be remembered as a hard working, dedicated, and caring father who was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was also an avid red socks fan, loved coaching little league and listening to old time radio shows. Robert was well known for being especially keen on crossword puzzles and jeopardy. He was also known to be a long time business owner in Portland, owning a Sanitary Service Company, two Dairy Queen franchises, as well as an Accounting & Tax Services Company; and was successful at both. One of the fondest memories Robert had was his fourth of July bash in 1996; there was swimming, barbecuing, and fireworks with friends and family who came from far and wide to celebrate this special occasion. One thing Robert was known best for was that his family was always number one and his highest priority no matter what.
Robert is survived by his five sons: Robert J. Williams III, Peter Williams, Theodore Williams, John Williams and Timothy Williams; all residing in the Portland area, and 8 grandchildren. Robert left a legacy behind and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
