Affectionately known as "Bubba" by his grandchildren, Robert was born and raised in Oregon. Meeting the love of his life, Kim, in middle school, they married in 1985. For the majority of his adult life, he operated Oregon Heritage Farms, an apple orchard in beautiful Scholls. On this apple orchard, he raised his family, instilling hard work, resilience and love in his children. Robert and Kim developed a joint love of travel, enjoying new sites and each other's company away from the ever present farm work.
Robert was not a social individual, preferring the comfort of hard earned friendship. He would often use his sharp wit to poke fun at anyone he deemed worthy. His family likes to say if Robert made fun of you, it meant he loved you. However, his preference for privacy did not stop him from caring for others. He was quick to offer a helping hand, loan equipment, or dole out advice. One of his favorite words of wisdom was "You can't make more dirt," which meant he accepted dirt from anyone and anywhere. He was always able to find some use for it!
Robert's ashes will be spread on his two favorite locations: the soil of his family home and the ocean in Kona, Hawaii. He is survived by his wife, Kim, two children, Chelsea (Robert) McLennan-West and Kyle (Reba) McLennan, four grandchildren and his parents Philip McLennan and Dolores Morgan.
A private gathering will be held for family and friends. In lieu of gifts or flowers, please consider making a donation to The American Brain Tumor Association in Robert's name.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.finleysunsethills.com for the McLennan family.
