Retta Faith Kriefall was born to Rev. Harry and Mrs. Ida Kriefall. She grew up in Havillah, WA, and graduated from Tonasket High School in 1960 and Concordia University in Seward, NE, in 1964. Retta taught elementary school in California for several years before moving to Minneapolis, MN, to enter the Northwest Airlines flight attendant training program. In 1974 she married Steve Braun and moved to New York where she continued with Northwest Airlines and Steve joined Inflight Motion Pictures. Their daughter Elizabeth was born in 1976. The Brauns moved to Portland, OR, in 1978 shortly before the birth of their son Christopher. The following year, Retta and family moved into the Thomas Prince house, where Retta began her lifelong love of historic home renovation and design. She continued to fly internationally and share her talents in entertaining, volunteerism and artistic endeavor while always prioritizing what was most important to Retta, family. In 2002, the Brauns moved to Aurora, OR where Retta began the renovation of their mid-19th century home, the Frederick Keil house. Retta was predeceased by her parents and her oldest brother Luther. She is survived by her beloved husband Steve, her cherished children Elizabeth and Christopher and her adored granddaughter Blue, as well as her sisters Eunice and Rachel, brothers Ted and Dan, their spouses and many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church on March 28, 2015, at 11:00 am.
