Born on July 22, 1951, in Portland, Oregon, Randy's family fondly remembers him as a spirited and lively child, always filled with laughter. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1969 and embarked on a series of adventurous chapters in his life, residing in places like Hawaii, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
Throughout his varied occupations, which included roles as a long-haul truck driver for George Pacific and owner of an art supply store, Randy discovered his true passion as a farmer. He was intelligent and creative in his work cultivating the land and growing food. Beyond his green thumb, Randy was a gifted musician, talented at playing the guitar and singing. He was a great cook and a great dancer.
Randy is preceded in death by his father, William E. Lay. He is survived by his daughters, Casey and McKenzie; his mother, Norma J. Grogg; his sisters Cathy A. Lay and Susan J. Pearson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 11 a.m.
