She was born on April 11, 1925 in Ogden, Utah. Her parents were Ruth Gladys Kent Thompson and Ralph Hughes Thompson Sr.
Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Vern Johnson Smith. She is survived by her son Kent Johnson Smith, daughter Joan Marie Smith, granddaughters Leslie Marie Smith, Elaine Wenxin Smith, Laura Yunying Smith, great granddaughter Addison Mae Rivers, and daughter-in-law Yalan Smith.
She had asked us, her family, to express her gratitude to God for her blessed life and to her family and friends for their companionship.
Phyllis was a long time member and Elder at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Portland.
Remembrances may be given to First Presbyterian Church in Portland (general fund).
A private family memorial will be held.
