Patricia Ann Beals was born July 8, 1937, to Cecil Arthur Beals and Mina Mable Keveren in Silverton, Marion County, Oregon. She passed away quietly on April 11, 2024 in Tualatin, Washington County, Oregon.
Pat was the first of two children. She was joined 4 years later by her sister, Beth Irene Beals. Pat and her family moved back and forth between Montana and Oregon and also spent time in California while her dad served in the Navy during WWII. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 7, 1954 in Anaconda, Montana with her family.
Patricia married Bobby Glen Smith, Aug. 24, 1954 in Anaconda, Montana, and they were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls Temple, July 13, 1963. They were blessed with 5 children. She loved being a mother and really enjoyed being a Grandma to 19 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
Pat was an avid reader, seamstress, crafter, quilter and artist. She was always working on something to give to her grandchildren. She was a talented artist and painted dozens of oil paintings. She loved embroidery, sewing, tole painting and many more crafts. She loved eagles and had a beautiful collection. She loved decorating for every holiday, in every room. She also loved watching most sports. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending countless hours camping with Bob while he went fishing and hunting.
Pat worked with Bob in the building business. She helped with the bookkeeping and finances.
Pat served in various callings in the Church. She loved serving in Young Women, Primary, Blazer Scouts, Relief Society and as Stake Athletic Director. She always poured her heart into every calling she had. She always accepted these assignments to serve even when it was intimidating to her. She was an example of service in many ways.
Patricia and Bob served 3 missions together. The first was St. Louis, Missouri, then Salt Lake City, Utah Family History, and then Portland, Oregon. Together they served in the Seattle Washington Temple and in the Portland Oregon Temple for many years.
Pat is survived by her children, Cyndie Sue Christensen (Patrick Thomas) Featherville, Idaho, Michael LeRoy Smith (Sue Maughan) Kent Washington, currently serving a mission in Antofagasta, Chile, Peggy Ann Berne (Steven Mark) Bend, Oregon, Susan (Susie) Irene Crane, (Joseph McKay) Bennington, Idaho, Patricia (Patti) Lee Ryan, (James Daniel) Portland, Oregon. She is survived by her sister Beth Irene Kennedy (Stan) and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob Smith, her parents, and son-in-law Kelven Keleher.
A memorial Service will be held April 20, 2024 at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 14903 Westlake Drive, Lake Oswego, Oregon. There will be a viewing prior to the service at 10 - 10:45 am at the Church. She will have a private family burial at Finley-Sunset Hills Memorial Park in Portland, Oregon.
