I was so happy to have Pat as a friend.  I met her several years ago through mutual friends, and our friendship grew with the years.  There were many long telephone conversations, one just a few days before she passed, and our several times a year lunches at IKEA - often with her neighbor, Golda.  I had such admiration for Pat and was shocked to hear of her death, as I thought she would be here for many more years.  She was an extremely intelligent woman and just such a great friend. I was proud to witness the Rosary for Pat yesterday morning.  The Catholic ritual was one to behold and her service was beautiful, just like Pat.  I imagined her soul ascending gracefully into Heaven with the divine opportunity to meet God face to face. Now she can now watch over all of us with ease.  I had better be watching my P's and Q's!  I miss you, my friend and I cry out of selfishness, but then I realize what a legacy you left behind and I am proud to have been a part of it, so I dry my eyes and put on a smile in honor of you, Patty Dear. I met Pat just over 20 years ago and she became my aunt by marriage.  She welcomed me so immediately into the family that I felt as though she was actually my true aunt.   Pat was one of the kindest people I have ever met.  She will most definitely be missed

Since receiving the news her passing I have been having moments of reflection of my visits with Aunt Pat over the years. What great memories I have. My first memory that I can recollect from childhood was spending Easter in Portand with Pat and Ed in the early 70's. Since then I just have continual memories over the years of great family vacations in the Okanagan and Port Townsen. Aunt Pat was a great story teller and was a repository of knowledge of the family lineage. She was a joy to be with and such a positive person. As I recall "Happy Day's" was one of her sayings and yes those were happy days.
She will be missed but I feel blessed to have known such a great person.

I first met Aunt Pat in the late 1980's, shortly after my marriage to Hugh John Macdonald, and I loved her immediately. Her smile lit up the room - her laugh infectious! I will fondly remember that first visit, staying up half the night talking and laughing at Aunt Pat's stories about growing up "Macdonald" as she welcomed me into the family. She was a lady of incredible charm and grace with compassion for everyone, she could not have picked a more perfect career. Her love for Uncle Ed and her family ran deep - she lit up whenever she spoke of them and it was undeniable that Uncle Ed was the love of her life, and it was a joy to see them together. They are reunited in heaven now - and I can almost hear that beautiful laughter now! We did not stay in touch as much as I would have liked to - life and health problems got in the way, but I will always remember Auntie Pat with love - I was blessed to have known her.  Rest in Peace Auntie Pat...

I met Pat in late 2015 while working at NW Counseling (where she volunteered each Thursday). After we were introduced, I stopped out to Pat's house to fix her computer. She had an extremely sharp mind, and was quite witty.

The last time that we spoke was March 10th, 2016. Pat was diligently performing her duties at NWCC (under Melissa's close supervision), while I labored to keep the computer systems running smoothly. Pat was jovial and pleasant the entire afternoon. She joked(?) about how a long road trip is the best way to get to know your spouse, and reminisced about how she'd discovered this the hard way during a road trip in the not-so-distant past.

It was an honor to meet Pat - even if it was this late in her long life. I am a better person for having been graced by Pat's presence.

Pat was my nursing instructor and a great example of the kind of nurse we all wanted to become; she had a unique way of connecting with each one of us. I respected her tremendously and appreciated her dedication to the profession of nursing.

Pat was my first nursing instructor and lifelong friend. She was one of the most influential people in my life. The light has dimmed in my world today.  Rest in peace dear Pat.

Pat & I reconnected last year & it was wonderful to talk with her again.  It was such fun to remember the days I was a student at Good Sam. It saddens me that she has gone but I know she is again with her husband.  I couldn't have had a better mentor than Pat.  When I spoke with her last she was still very active & continued her lunches with other Good Sam instructors. She was very proud that she could still run up & down her stairs! We were planning to get her students together this summer.  She was one of a kind & the perfect example of what a nurse is & what teacher does. Thank you Pat, it was an honor to have known you.

Pat was a kindred spirit from the moment she walked into my nursing classroom in 1977.  She introduced herself and proceeded to tell us how frightened she was when she was in nursing school, how all she wanted to do was crawl into a closet and hide.  Her story described exactly the way I was feeling at the time and we connected immediately.  She and Ed became role models for my husband and I.  Pat was the most intelligent woman I have ever met.  Her advice over the years was always correct.  "I love you, Patty Dear"" and "I love you, Joy", were the last words we spoke to each other. Pat,  I will forever be grateful to God for blessing my life with your love and guidance. Rest in peace.  I know you are enjoying being reunited with Ed and your parents and Therese! We enjoyed our lovely visits over the years with Pat at Shauna and Pat's get togethers, and also at lunch with the "girls".  Pat had a wonderful sense of humor and shared such great times.  We will miss our visits and send our thoughts and prayers to her loving family.

I met Pat in a painting class years ago.  We had so much fun and then later on we would try and get together for lunch.  She was a wonderful person and I will miss her.

To open the paper today.... My heart aches deeply. I got a wonderful funny email just the other day. Pat kept me going after my mother Lubie died. She was my second mom. She was brilliant with her words and could always set me straight when needed.  Her humor was sharp and on the phone we would find a way to laugh about all our troubles. There will always be a huge void in my heart. Pat had a firm love of God and did not fear going to be with our Lord. I will see you again my friend. I will see you again. You were a class act and will be greatly missed.

I was a student nurse when Pat re-entered nursing after an absence to raise her children.  We had many clinical rotations together.  Her knowledge, passion & humor were contagious, and it inspired us to be better.  We celebrated Linfield's decision to promote Pat to Dean of Nursing.  She was a perfect example of merging the world of academia and bedside nursing.  She was a true patient advocate, and will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her. My sympathy goes out to family at this difficult time.  I worked with Pat for years at Good Samaritan School of Nursing.  She was a wonderful nurse and a role model for many. I believe we all want to make a difference in the world and I believe she did. I fell so fortunate to have have been her coworker and friend.

I have  been Pat's neighbor for several years.   She was a special lady, a good  friend and a true "Florence Nightingale."  Pat would call to visit and if I had the sniffles or something else, she would follow up the next day or two and keep track until I felt better.  She was thoughtful and caring, and I will miss her friendship. My sincere sympathy to the family.  I don't know you but Pat spoke of you often.

I have nothing but wonderful memories of an amazing woman who was always smiling when I saw her. She was an inspirational woman, I value the kindness and love she expressed, and my thoughts and sympathies go towards the family and friends of Great Aunt Pat.
