When Nancy Ann Vaught walked into the room, those in her company felt energy, an enthusiastic spontaneity. Nancy was a clever and gregarious person who always sought out the finest attributes in other people. It was as if Nancy wanted to share all of their experiences, revel in their lives and celebrate their discoveries. Nancy was tireless and had boundless enthusiasm that would serve her well throughout her life.
Nancy Ann Vaught was born in Enterprise, Oregon to parents Montte and Jake Wart on November 14, 1944. Nancy’s dad worked in the logging business so the family moved frequently for his work. Nancy was always the center of the family’s activities and even as a child her social ability and charm was evident. Nancy graduated from Enterprise High School and attended college at Eastern Oregon University.
As an adult Nancy worked as a bartender and waitress at several Portland area eateries and bars. She loved to watch movies and listen to music. She was a very fashionable woman and found great pleasure in shopping and finding a good deal.
Nancy struggled with bad health the past four years and on May 24, 2013 she peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of her family in Portland, Oregon. She was 68 years old. Her memory will always be cherished by those her loved her. She is survived by her partner, Robert Root; a son, Trevor Lamb, a sister Jeanne (Dale) Titus; two granddaughters and a host of extended family and friends. She will also be missed by her furry family members, her beloved pets.
There was always a certain style and inventiveness to Nancy. She was a dynamic, self-expressive person who was forever looking to celebrate the endless possibilities life had to offer. She had a knack for being clever, creative and witty, and for others, was a joy to be around. While she was often fiercely independent, it seemed as if many others looked to Nancy Vaught for inspiration, leadership, wisdom and even courage. Nancy had a heart of gold and smile to match. Her love, friendliness and personality will be greatly missed in this world.
