Nancy was born in St. Louis, MO on March 1, 1938. She grew up in Minneapolis, MN and graduated from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI in 1960. She went on to raise three daughters, Deborah, Cheryl and Diana. Nancy had a very successful real estate career, during which most of her clients became friends. Music was always a huge part of her life. As an accomplished pianist, she also sang as the only female tenor in many church choirs. She loved travelling the world, gardening, playing bridge, and sharing her wonderful cooking with family, friends and anyone in need. She doted on her grandchildren and enjoyed a uniquely personal relationship with each one. Hers was a life well lived.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon Dale and Helen Rose Wissmiller and her long-time friend, Harry Hartung. Her surviving family, daughter, Debbie Kirkendall, daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Richard McDevitt, and Diana and James Carter and grandchildren, Nick (Liz) McDevitt, Bailey McDevitt, Meghan Carter and Molly Carter will miss her devotion to family and friends, her example of faith, and her infectious laugh.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 7, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1838 SW Jefferson Street, Portland, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Care Partners Hospice, angels among us, at www.carepartnersor.org/donate.
