Moses "Sonny" Crosby Jr.

Moses Crosby, Jr. was born in Birmingham, AL on May 1, 1935. He was the youngest child to Moses and Edwina Crosby.

In November 1963, Moses accepted Jesus as his savior at Maranatha Evangelistic Center in Portland, Oregon. Moses was very involved in the church as an Evangelist, Youth Minister, Choir Director, Prison Ministries, and Missionary; just to name a few.

In 1971, Moses, along with several other Maranatha ministers, travelled to Africa to teach bible study in Kenya and Nairobi. It was one of the greatest honors of his life.

In 1972, he traveled to Mississippi on behalf of Maranatha where he ministered young adults and at-risk youth. He mentored and hosted events which many of the young men and women were saved under his ministry. He coached a young men’s basketball team and was heavily involved with their continuing education.

In 1974, he returned to Portland and continued his works with Maranatha Church.

Moses Crosby loved people and never met a stranger. He enjoyed hosting events and bible study and loved the fellowship with his buddies – playing card games, domino challenges, and singing and playing music was common entertainment. He self-taught himself to play the bass guitar and, because of his deep love for music, he mastered it. His home was a place where people came to when they needed help, or just someone to talk with. He was just like a father to many people who also viewed him as their Dad. Enjoying the outdoors was another love of Moses’; especially camping and fishing.

Moses ‘Sonny’ Crosby touched many lives and will forever leave a permanent smile on many faces and in hearts.

Rev. Moses Crosby, Jr. passed away peacefully, 6:45 a.m., Thursday, July 22, 2021 in Phoenix, AZ.

He was survived by his children, Camie Crosby, Patricia Lucas, Michael (Tiwanna) Crosby, Mosetta (Melissa) Forrest, and Mary Crosby. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and proceeded in death by his two sisters; Jean Crosby and Vivian Davis.
