A proud alumnus of Roosevelt High School’s Class of 1972, Mike pursued further education at Portland Community College before graduating from the Oregon Police Academy in Monmouth in 1987. He served with dedication as a police officer for the Milwaukie Police Department for many years and later continued his career in public safety with First Response until his retirement in 2018.
Known for his quiet strength and gentle demeanor, Mike was a man of steadfast values and deep passions. His love for airplanes was a lifelong joy, inspiring him to move to Hayden Island, where he could marvel at planes taking off and landing at Portland International Airport. A devoted airplane model enthusiast, Mike found peace in collecting, building, and exploring aviation history through museum visits.
Mike’s connection to the outdoors was equally profound. He cherished time spent hiking around Mount Hood and took great pleasure in the beauty of nature. He also had a playful side, enjoying bowling and indulging in his favorite treats—ribeye steaks, vanilla and chocolate sundaes, and little Hershey chocolate bars.
A long-time member of the Community of Christ church, Mike’s spiritual foundation was a guiding force in his life. Though a man of few words, his quiet presence spoke volumes. He was deeply personal, dedicated, and unwavering in his commitments to his family, friends, and faith.
Mike will be dearly missed by his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His gentle spirit, quiet strength, and steadfast nature leave an enduring legacy of love and devotion.
Michael will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
