August 3, 1955 – July 21, 2023
Maureen passed peacefully after a long illness.
A nurse for 42 years, Maureen graduated from Seattle University School of Nursing in 1977. Her long career included working first in Seattle as a nurse, then in Portland. She worked at Legacy Emanuel Hospital until she adopted her son, Matthew. Maureen then worked for many years with Legacy Orthopedic Clinic followed by a number of years at their geriatric clinic.
Maureen’s devotion to people who needed help extended to work with Transitions, providing orthopedic care to people in Guatemala.
Maureen was a devoted and loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Whether it was a friend or family member welcoming a new child, Maureen would craft a personalized quilt for each. She actively supported her son in Boy Scouts through his earning of Eagle Scout.
Maureen cared for her patients with compassion and loving care. She took great joy in spoiling her younger family members.
Maureen is survived by her son, Matthew, sister’s Mary (Greg), and Loren (Wayne), and brother Michael (Janet); niece Helena and nephew Michael, great-niece Rosalie and great-nephew, Jack. All will miss her.
Donations to Transitions Guatemala are requested in her name for those wishing to honor Maureen’s memory.
