Maureen Lea O’Hara Iggulden was born on November 15, 1930 in Portland, Oregon. She lived most of her entire life in the Portland area with just a few years spent in Southern California. She left this world at age 89 in Gresham, Oregon due to kidney failure. Maureen, known as “Mo” to many, will be remembered for her ever-present chuckle, which followed most any statement she made. She was also known for her Angel Pie, G’ma’s Spaghetti and of course, no hunting or fishing trip would be official without a batch of her freshly baked snickerdoodles.
Maureen crew up in the Eastmoreland neighborhood of SE Portland. She attended Duniway Grade School and graduated from Washington High School in 1948. She was active in Camp Fire throughout her school years and enjoyed several summers at Camp Namanu in Sandy. Her Camp Fire troop participated in several activities to support the war effort in the early 40s, including canning food and collecting supplies for numerous veteran’s organizations.
Maureen was married to Robert E. Iggulden for 59 years, which is a testimony to her strong will and loyalty. She retired from her work at Crown Zellerbach Paper after 35 years of service. Her days were filled with antiquing, reading, doing puzzles and crafting, which included designing and making stained glass windows. Her love of glass also was evident in her extensive collection of Swarovski Crystal figurines.
An avid member of the Garden Club – Mo loved flowers and socializing. She played pinochle up until the last few months when Covid quarantine put an end to her daily card games. She loved playing cards her entire life and was a formidable opponent who always played to win.
She often could be heard singing her favorite music, seen going to the theater and shows, and enjoyed her beloved dogs throughout the years – starting with her first dog “Chico”, who was crowned “Mutt King” during the Young Oregonian Mutt Dog Show in 1943.
She is survived by her daughter Susan Iggulden, her son Robert Iggulden, Robert’s wife Randi, and her two adult grandchildren – Bradley and Sydney Iggulden. No formal services will be held, but donations in her name can be sent to the National Kidney Foundation.
