Matthew was born on January 11th, 1957, in Portland, Oregon to Gerald Miller and Constance "Babe" Roth, one of seven children.
Matthew graduated from John Adams High School, which he frequently joked about and only those who attended the school would truly understand the humor.
Matthew as a longtime member of UA Local Union 290, where he worked many years at the Portland Shipyards (SEI & Cascade General) with his brother, Mark and longtime friends, Brian Smith and Daran Wilson, receiving the nickname "Mattman". He worked at various other companies, but he spent the last years before retirement at Harder Mechanical, a job he truly loved.
Matthew met and married his wife of almost 24 years, Bernadette (Tina) and they shared their time together in the North Portland area.
He was an excellent pool player and played for several Tavern pool leagues in the North/Northeast area. He enjoyed playing card games, cribbage, and yahtzee, and was an avid golfer. Most of all he loved returning to church and the Lord.
He had a sharp tongue and a wicked sense of humor, which led to one of his favorite sayings, "Was it something I said?".
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Bernadette (Tina) of Portland, OR; stepson, Darnell Parker of Auburn, WA; father, Gerald Miller; brothers, Kevin Miller of Portland, OR and Andrew Miller of Salem, OR; sisters, Veronica Miller-Kimmons and Mary C. Perkins both of Portland, OR; along with aunts, uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws by marriage, and many lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Constance "Babe" Roth; eldest sister, Bernadine Niece; and brother, Mark Miller.
A Gathering to be held at Matthew's home away from home!
