Mathew B. Peachey was born March 12, 1992 in Pendleton, OR. to John and Karen Peachey. He was raised in the Portland and Oregon City areas with his siblings, Angie, Michelle, Melissa and Daniel. He graduated from North Clackamas Christian High School on June 3, 2011.
On May 15, 2012, Mathew enlisted in the United States Army. He was recently stationed at Fort Riley, KS.
During childhood and adolescence, Mathew enjoyed many outdoor and extracurricular activities. He was a Cub and Boy Scout, participated on the Canby swim team and played football for Oregon City. He was recognized as the “Most Improved Player” through his football experience and received many ribbons and awards at his swim meets. In addition to organized sports, Mathew found joy in reading, paintball, shooting, video games, camping and fishing. He was also a member of the Canby Foursquare Church.
Mathew passed away May 17, 2013 while serving at Fort Riley, KS. A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2013 in the Canby Foursquare Church with a graveside service and military honors to follow at 3:00pm in Willamette National Cemetery.
Mathew will be remembered for his loyal and generous heart. His dedication to family and country was evident when he joined the Army. His family recalls fond memories of camping trips in the Cascades, illegal fireworks on the Fourth of July, barbeques and hanging by the pool. His father cherishes memories of flying his plane with his sons and taking home videos of the family.
Mathew is survived by his father, John Peachey; siblings, Angie Johnson, Michelle Knoch, Melissa Peachey and Daniel Peachey; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen. He will be missed and remembered with love.
