Dopita, in Spokane, Washington. She was the
only girl and had four brothers: Lewis, Charles, Fred and
Dale. Later, the family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho and then to
Philipsburg, Kansas.
Mary met Ralph Winter, a family friend, and they were
married on June 19, 1945 on her 19th birthday. Mary and Ralph had
four children: David, Douglas, Dean, and Damon. Mary enjoyed
going camping with her family, going to the beach, and spending time
making a beautiful loving home. For many years, she worked as a
custodian at Oregon Institute of Technology. After Ralph’s passing in
1994, Mary met and married William Trent, who preceded her in
death in 2013.
Mary was devoted to church and loved teaching children,
going to Bible Studies and women’s prayer groups. She taught the
4 year olds Sunday school class for 20 years. Although she went to
church as a child, it was later, as an adult watching a TV preacher in
her living room, where she was “born-again” as she gave her life to
Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Mary was water Baptized on
November 25, 1973 as a public declaration of her faith in Christ. She
loved to read her Bible, worship the Lord, and faithfully pray for her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her brother, Dale Dopita, her sons:
Douglas and Damon Winter, and her grandchildren: Capprice Pikios,
Noelle Mobley, Joshua Winter, Douglas Winter, Jr., Chris Brown,
Lindsey Amuchastegui, Dr. Aaron Winter and Nathan Winter. As
well as 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Mary transitioned from this life to the next peacefully on
Monday, March 25, 2019 at the age of 93 years old. She entered into
glory, while watching TV preacher, T.D. Jakes on the television. She
will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary’s unwavering
faith and love for God has carried her through the good times, as well
as the bad, and is the legacy she leaves behind for her family to
continue
