During World War II, Mary worked in the shipyards, and was very proud of her hard work there. She bowled three days a week until she was 96. She also went roller skating every Sunday, and enjoyed skating with her daughter Pauline when she was in high school. She loved working in her garden, practiced Tai Chi, and loved watching hummingbirds fly around her two acres (which she kept looking immaculate!)
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Paul Roberts, her son John Roberts, and by a granddaughter, Jennifer Roberts. She will be missed by
her daughter Mary Pauline Swanson and husband Ed;
grandchildren Rebecca, Patrick, Mary Kay, Judy, and Ed; great-grandchildren Brandon, Brian, Lee, Andre, and Madiera;
and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Mary’s life will be celebrated at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Portland at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 18.
