Mary Virginia Hyde passed away on Monday, May 5, 2014 in her home at The Villas in McMinnville just 18 days from her 91st birthday. She died comfortably in the care of her loving caretakers following a prolonged illness.
Memorial services for Mary Virginia Hyde will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Skyline Memorial Gardens with viewing from 9:00AM to 10:45 AM. A reception will follow at the reception hall adjacent to the Chapel.
Mary Virginia (Housley) Hyde was born May 23, 1923 in Freedom, Nebraska to Emmert Arden Housley and Mary Estella (Webb) Housley. Although Mary Virginia had polio as a child, she had a wonderful childhood surrounded by loving relatives. She graduated from high school in 1940 and moved with her family to Oregon in 1942. Mary Virginia worked as a switchboard telephone operator in St Helens through 1945.
Mary Virginia married Roy Dell Hyde on December 31, 1945. They moved to Idaho and farmed until 1955, when they returned to Oregon. Mary Virginia then continued her work as a telephone operator in St. Helens, Oregon until the family moved to Hillsboro in 1964. She then worked for Tektronix in Beaverton until her retirement in 1984.
Mary Virginia was a kind and loving person who had a hug for everyone.
Her parents, husband, and two brothers, Emmert Jr. and William, preceded Mrs. Hyde in death.
Survivors include twin daughters, Karen Lynn Keldson (Jim Robinson) of Surrey, BC and Christie Lee Stark (Michael Stark) of McMinnville, Oregon, one sister, Louise Lowry of Portland Oregon; three granddaughters, Kelly Trotman, Shelley Bostwick and Angela Stark; four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson, Jordan, Darian, Brook, Tess and Kyle: and two great-great granddaughters, Paetyn and Zoie.
