Mary Ann Heldt, age 84, of Portland, Oregon passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020. Mary Ann was born January 31, 1936 in Chadron, Nebraska. At a very young age in the 1940's her family moved to Ontario, Oregon.
Growing up in Ontario, they lived on an island in the Snake river. The island is named Strawberry Island and a small part of it is still there today. Church was very important and the family attended Pilgrim Lutheran Church, and that is where Mary Ann met the love of her life Robert E Heldt. They were married in 1954 and started a family. In 2004 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They adopted two children; Karen and Kevin. Mary Ann's two greatest passions was singing in the church choir at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aloha and arranging flowers.
Robert passed away in 2005 and a grandson Roosevelt W Harris III passed away in 1998. She was second of four girls in her family, her oldest sister Phyllis has passed, and her two younger sisters Colleen in Northern CA and Carol lives in Southern OR.
Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Karen Preston, son Kevin Heldt and grandson Keith Preston; eight nephews and four nieces.
