When he was born, his father sent his mother flowers bearing the inscription “Unto us a son is given.” He attended St. Stephen's, and then the Madeleine Grade School, where his mother and two older siblings graduated, until the family moved to Tempe, AZ in the summer prior to entering the 6th grade. There, he attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and then Gerard Catholic High School. He learned by doing. He was always tinkering with something: cars, boats, toys, machines of any kind. He loved music.
In his late teens and early 20’s he worked as a D.J. in clubs in the Phoenix area. He briefly attended ASU, but left and then followed in his father’s footsteps by going to work at U-Haul International starting in February, 1977. He later worked on the U-Haul Hotline and helped modernize U-Haul’s in-field alarm and monitoring capabilities, and in 2007 he became an Operations Manager for the combined U-Haul Customer Service/Hotline Department. His career continued through his retirement in 2020.
Mark died on a long trip, ending in Rockaway Beach, Oregon, on February 3, 2022. He lived and worked in the desert, but loved the ocean best. He is survived by his brothers Paul and David and their wives, his sister Mary Jo Sandomir and her husband. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Ann, his father, John (Jack) and his brother John.
Mark’s funeral Mass is scheduled in Mesa, AZ at Resurrection Catholic Church on March 22 at 10:00 am, preceded by recitation of the Rosary. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Phoenix.
