Marilyn L. Norman passed away on April 27th surrounded by love. Her death came as a great shock and has left a deep wound in the hearts of her family. Her husband Dave was by her side with love, laughter and support throughout their 57-year marriage, and through her passing. His commitment to her was especially evident throughout these last years as her health needs increased.
Marilyn and Dave raised 3 daughters, Michelle (Jeaneen), Stephanie (Brian), and Jennifer (Steve). All 3 were encouraged to be strong, kind, to laugh, and to value family and friends. They honor their mom in how they live their lives.
Marilyn faced many health and physical challenges throughout her adulthood, living with disabling rheumatoid arthritis since her 30’s, several other conditions and finally lymphoma in 2024. She entered chemotherapy treatments with a no-nonsense, “let’s do this” attitude. She had been through 3 of 4 treatments and had enjoyed outings with family the week prior to her death.
Throughout all of these challenges, Marilyn’s relationship and time with her family remained her focus. Her granddaughters brought joy and laughter to her in ways nothing else could. Almost daily, she shared her pride and fierce love of Melissa (Ben), Emily, Gwen, Charley and Jessie.
Marilyn is survived by her six siblings. Carolyn (Bud), her twin, was by her side when she passed. With her siblings, Sharlene, Dennis (Jean), Dianne (David), Jacquie, and Mike (Robin), she created an extended family for her daughters that remains a foundation today, with their 22 cousins, 3 of whom are now deceased.
Marilyn’s family would like to welcome you to join them anytime between 3:00 and 6:00 pm on June 30th for a casual celebration of Marilyn’s life. There will be no scheduled speakers, rather a chance to gather and share stories, love, laughter, and tears. It will be at one of Marilyn’s favorite gathering places ~ Three Mermaids Public House, 18041 SW Lower Boones Ferry Rd #1B in Tigard, OR.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to:
