Dear Marcia’s loved ones,  I am sooo sorry for your loss.  I have known Marcia for 24 years when we worked for For Windows Only and then we all went to Custom Decorators together.  She was even my manager for a time but I remember her most not as a colleague but as a trusted friend, someone who I could always go to to get good advice and wise counsel.  She was always available with a smile and she had a way of making you feel better about yourself.  She just had a big heart.  We didn’t see each other much (maybe once a year) but it was always easy and she made time for everyone.  I appreciated her efforts to always get us old designers all together.  I am sorry I can’t be there to celebrate her life with you but my thoughts and prayers are with you.  God Bless, Sherry Friedheim

I remember meeting Marcia at my first CDI Escape Event. We were all dressed up that evening for one of our more formal dinners, and she was wearing the most elegant dress and I think a fur wrap.  Marcia: so poised, intelligent, professional , kind,  And tall!
When I moved my sales territory from AZ  to San Diego, Marcia was encouraging and positive, I appreciated her support!
 Although I did not see her on a daily basis, knowing she was in Portland, doing her pioneering work with THD  was reassuring. Hard to believe she is no longer with us.
I know she would have enjoyed her retirement ; she appreciated the beauty in this world.
I will miss her.

I've worked with Marcia for 4 years and she is one of the few people I've met here in our corporate office who grew up in this business.  Marcia was clearly passionate and knowledgeable about the window covering business and she was also passionate about the success of CDI.

I admired Marcia's joy of gardening - it's not an instant gratification hobby.  It takes many hours of messy digging, pruning and nurturing in order to finally see the beauty of your work many months later.  She brought that same passion and work ethic in building up our business here at CDI.

Marcia had a great sense of humor - we shared many laughs over the years.   I'll miss her a lot, but I'm consoled by knowing that she has went to be with the Lord where the gardens are always green.  Rest in peace.

I had the honor of working with Marcia for over 12 years. She was a great inspiration and help along the way and became a good friend. She was so supportive when my son was born premature and was always so excited when I brought him to visit work as he's grown. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her throughout the years. She is greatly missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Marcia for 15 years. What she brought to CDI was her passion for the design and window covering industry due to her years as a in-home designer with Montgomery Wards and For Windows Only. She walked in the shoes of our designers.
When I joined CDI she reported to me, and she always challenged me! Marcia had the most incredible attention to detail.  Then she got promoted to my position and moved to Oregon to be closer to her NW roots. The day she moved into her house the moving truck had not arrived and she called me to ask if she could borrow a few things. I brought her some cooking gear and a portable black and white TV with rabbit ears, now that dates us! She was all about making her yard beautiful and had high standards, so I of course, hired her gardner. I figuared if he worked for Marcia, he had to be the best. Over the years, Marcia and I became peers, confidants and more recently, talked about aging - losing our parents and  what we will do when we retire. Marcia was a sharp business woman both in her career and her personal life. She planned for retirement and I only wish she could have lived to experience the fruits of her labor. But I know she is in an amazing place where the flowers are plentiful and everyday is like retirement, only better. 

Wayne and I share a deep respect for Marcia. Her professionalism and knowledge were  accentuated by her honesty and sincerity.  She was always there for us when we needed her assistance. Rest In Peace, Marcia. You will be greatly missed.

Marcia will be missed by all that knew her.  I had a great deal of respect for Marcia    She saved my  Bacon  more then once and for that I will  always  be grateful       I was and am proud to call her friend.   Rest In Peace.   

Working with Marcia was a pleasure, being her friend was an honor.  We shared a love for Santa and my collection will always remind me of her.  After I left CDI Marcia and I remained connected.    Through the years our friendship grew, as did my respect and admiration for her.    The outpouring of love and kind words that people have shared since her passing has reinforced my belief that Marcia was amazing.  She was strong in business, generous in her soul, and kind and sincere in her heart.  I hope that she is smiling from afar, knowing how many people were touched by her presence.  Enjoy paradise my friend... until we meet again.

Thank you to all who have shared memories here. I’ve  loved Marcia as an older sister; very successful, artistic and creative in a businesslike way.  She was always good at things she endeavored. When I walked into the classroom of teachers who remembered my sister, I don’t remember being able to meet their expectations.  

I looked to Marcia often for advice, guidance and approval.  She was the anchor of our family through the loss of our parents. The warmth and love shared here has touched my heart and provided strength and direction in a difficult time. Please continue to share your stories. They provide a perspective far beyond the way we know Marcia as family members.

Marcia was one of the most encouraging and supportive people to me at CDI since I started a year ago.  She knew the challenges and opportunities of our business and shared valuable insights and  acknowledged successes, a true mentor. She was strong, intelligent and compassionate, and I am so glad to have known her.

Had never met the "West Coast" Stroheckers, and so glad we had the opportunity to get together and visit at Jims party.

Marcia and I traveled to many wonderful places . I will miss her dearly.  

I met Marcia in the 1980s when she moved to California and started working at Montgomery Ward alongside her aunt as a decorator. I had been working there and since the two of us were in our 20s we got along great and begun socializing after work.  When I got married in 1988, Marcia was in my wedding and helped me plan my wedding. Her unique touches made my day even more special. Our friendship of 34+ years has grown to be more of a family relationship. We always celebrated birthdays together and always traveled somewhere special for our milestone birthdays. As she moved away from the Bay Area to northern California, she would always make it a point to visit when work took her back to the Bay Area. Once she moved to Oregon, she still made it a point to plan her work visits in the Bay Area so we could socialize. I would visit her in Oregon as often as her schedule allowed, as she traveled frequently for work. During the past 6+ years we started taking vacations together, mostly to Hawaii.  I will miss my dear friend immensely.  She left us too early and without a chance to say farewell.  Marcia was the most giving and creative person I have ever met.  She loved when her nephew Mitchi came to visit and always included him when she would visit me, and also when I went to Oregon. I will be thinking of her daily for a very long time. My deepest condolences to her extended family. I know how much she loved them. One of my favorite photos of Marcia was at my wedding. Her beauty really showed in this photo.

Having known Marcia for 20+ years as both a colleague and friend, there are so many thoughts that come to mind, but one in particular will stay with me forever:    Marcia knew that I too am a cat lover and foster mom with a local rescue in Los Angeles, so we'd have conversations about our pets.  It had been a while since Puddin' passed and when she was finally ready for another cat, I got the call about kittens.  It was not at all what I expected, which was that she finally adopted again.  She actually called me for a personal reference, so that she could adopt her current fur babies who came from the Far East somewhere.  Marcia did not need my reference, but I was happy and honored to help her.  It kind of sums up who she was - Successful, Intelligent, Classy, Confident, Kind, Loyal, Honest and Humble.  That's how I'll remember her.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Marcia always had a warm smile. I did not know her well but I do know that she was very kind and helpful. She will be deeply missed. 

There are no words that properly express the emotion of losing someone dear to you.  I have lived long enough to have done it more than once, and with humility and understanding of the event.

Marcia was an interesting, smart, totally competent professional, and on top of that she was a fine person as well.  We both shared a love of gardening, which we discussed more than once, and each time I think about my orchids and my flowers, I will remember those conversations.

My favorite memory of Marcia is when we went to California, just the two of us. We talked for hours: in the car, on the plane, at dinner. I really got to know her beautiful, kind soul. Words that come to mind when I think of Marcia: honest, thoughtful and caring. She wasn't afraid to tell it like it is, but always did so with grace and charm. Marcia will be missed by so many. My love goes out to all of you. 

I have known Marcia since 2006. She was always one of my favorite people at CDI. She was a pleasure to deal with. Some of the words I would use to describe her are: professional, respectful, nice and smart. When she stood up in front of a large room of people I always wanted to listen to her speak because she was so good at it. What a shock and huge loss not to have her with us anymore.

Marcia,  was an exceptional help to the Home Depot stores. My team appreciated all she has done and will remember her strength and persistence for years to come.

I worked with Marcia in the office and while I didn't get to talk with Marcia often- I did always remember seeing her sweet face walk by.  She will be greatly missed here and was an incredible asset at CDI.
