Local artist Lynn Gandolfi passed away on Christmas Day 2022, at age 71, due to complications from a lifelong struggle with diabetes. Lynn was born and raised in Portland, graduating from Grant High in 1969. She attended PSU, Oregon College of Arts and Crafts and Pacific NW College of Arts.
Lynn’s decision to become an artist happened on "paint day" in kindergarten. She felt that art chose her. She was a professional artist as a stained glass designer, a muralist/painter, a ceramic jewelry designer and concluded her art career working with ceramic materials and glazes making beautiful, delicate wall boxes inspired by nature. Lynn loved creating her art. Even the presents she gave were so beautifully wrapped, they were works of art as well. It’s possible she spent as much time decorating the outside of the package as choosing the gift inside. Lynn also enjoyed gardening, movies and spending time with loved ones.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mattie Weckert as well as her brother Steve. She is survived by her partner of over 34 years, Howard Hancock, her sister Janice Fick (Doug), nieces and nephews, Val Spear (Jesse), Chris Fick (Kimber Anderson), Sam Weckert (Lorea), Nate Fick (Annie Carlson) , Rachel Reilly (Joe), many great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Check back later for updates.
