Lynda Diane Uber Slater, 67, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on January 26, 2014, in Portland, Oregon. Lynda was born on September 28, 1946 in Albany, California, to Thomas Burton and Norma Mae Noe Uber. She was the eldest of four daughters. Lynda grew up in El Cerrito, Calif. where she graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1964.
Lynda attended Contra Costa College where she met her future husband, Bruce Slater. Lynda and Bruce were married on April 20, 1968 in Richmond, Calif. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple. They were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters.
Lynda cherished her family. She loved spending time making crafts with her grandchildren and cooking special meals for her family and friends. She loved to go to all the sports events that her grand-children participated in so she could cheer them on. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She is survived by her daughters, Shannon (Sean) Dotson, and Leslie (Jeramie) Peterson, her precious grandchildren, Holly, Harrison, Marissa, Tanner and Renee, her 3 sisters Cathy (Gregg) Gruis, Peggy (Dan) Barulich and Karen (Mark) Shores, 7 nieces and nephews and Bruce Slater.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her precious daughter Kristin.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, Feb 4, 2014 at the LDS Chapel located at 14885 NW West Union Road, Portland, OR, Interment to follow the funeral at Skyline Memorial Gardens cemetery. A viewing will be held just prior to the funeral at 10:00-10:45 am.
