Her parents were Dudley Robson Barnhart and Hazel Winnifred Beaulieu. She had an older brother, Peter.
At the age of 2 the family moved Milwaukie, Oregon. They lived in the projects off 32nd Avenue for two years and then moved to a home on Floss Avenue. She attended Ardenwald Grade School, Milwaukie Middle School, and Milwaukie High School. She was quite popular and served in clubs and was a Varsity Cheerleader. She lost her brother in a freak elevator accident in Meier and Frank store in downtown Portland and three months later lost her father to cancer. She and her mother were devastated as the
pastors and ministers said they would not be a family in the hereafter. While her father was in the hospital, an LDS nurse gave their names to the missionaries. They joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints after she graduated from high school.
She attended the University of Oregon for a year and then transferred to Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She was 6 months pregnant with her second child. She returned to Portland after finishing her second year of college and there met her future husband, Roscoe (Bill) William Burnett. They both returned to BYU and became engaged and married on September 4, 1964, The had seven children: Ross, Mike, Alison, Janell (deceased), Steve, Matt and Danny Mark (deceased.) They became employed by the Church Education System and served for 40 years. They lived in Holladay, Utah, Murray, Utah, Palmyra, New York, Pleasant Grove, Utah, Richland, Washington, Eugene, Oregon, Green Brook, New Jersey, Antioch, California when they retired and moved to Happy Valley, Oregon.
Lorna served in many capacities in the LDS Church including, Stake President of the Relief Society President of the Stake Primary, Counselors in both, YW President, Seminary and Institute teacher and a lifetime of service and loving all she met. She was a ray of sunshine and lovely smiles for all she met.
She will be sorely missed by family and all that knew her. In 2019 she was diagnosed with
CLL(leukemia) stage one but in a three week period went from stage 1 to stage 4
In November of 2021 and suffered greatly the last three months. She passed away on Friday, June 3rd, 2022. She now suffers no more and was met with many loved ones and friends as well as the many she did family history work for. She indexed over 135,000 names for the Family History program.
What a woman!

A graveside service for Lorna will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW SUNSET HWY, PORTLAND, OR 97225. Please gather in the funeral home building so that everyone may process up to the graveside together.
