

She was born in San Diego, California on September 07, 1947 to Ludwig and Ruby Pfenning. She grew up in Long Beach, California. She graduated from Washington State University with a BA in English in 1969. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She earned her Master's degree in English from the University of Southern California in 1975.
She was married in 1969 to Dean Lakin who preceded her in death. In 1979, she moved to Richland, WA where she taught at Richland High School until her retirement in 2002. She continued working for Dade Moeller & Associates Inc. as a technical editor until 2012.
Linda enjoyed many years of international travel, time at her cabin, reading countless books, and knitting, which were among her favorite pastime pursuits.
Due to a stroke in 2016, she was relocated to Vancouver, WA to be closer to family. We wish to thank the Felida Lodge Senior Living staff for the excellent care provided for Linda. While Linda had her health challenges, she enjoyed her time with family and friends every day she had.
She is survived by cousins, Donna (Pfenning) Tetrault of Ridgefield, WA, Barbara (Pfenning) Simpson of Portland, OR, and their families along with countless friends.
She was deeply loved and will be missed.
A graveside inurnment will be held for Linda on Friday, September 22nd at 12pm at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR 97225 in the Garden of Apostles.
