Linc was always the one making sure everyone had a good time. Whether it was his quick wit, dressing up in a full costume to entertain his friends during Dungeons and Dragons, or buying literally every burn cream, gel, spray, and bandage at CVS because his partner burned her hand cooking, Linc always went all the way to care for those around him and put smiles on their faces.
Lincoln Furrow, 37, of Sherwood, Oregon passed away on January 2, 2025 from a glioma, a form of brain cancer. Linc grew up in Wilsonville and graduated from Oregon State University where he studied graphic design. Sure, that’s part of the story, but that’s only a small part, a footnote in a vibrant and rich life where Linc cared and loved unflinchingly–a life where he left his mark on everyone from childhood friends to those he only met once.
Professionally, Linc was a Lead Graphic Designer at the streaming website Twitch. At Twitch, Linc was known for being one of the funnest people in the office and always empowering his co-workers to do their best creatively–just as his mom, Mary Furrow, empowered him to move to San Francisco to pursue his dream of becoming a graphic designer. Linc would take time to make every single slide in his presentations beautiful and informative just so the ten people he was presenting to wouldn’t get bored. And on the flipside, he also created the Glitch Dinosaur that’s loved by millions of Twitch users and sold on shirts and pillows.
While Linc may have been known for his considerate personality and deeply caring character in the professional setting, that’s a thousand times more true for those who knew him closely and loved him. After living in San Francisco, Linc moved back to Oregon. One of the big reasons he made this move was because his brother, Cameron Furrow, was going to have a child, and Linc was excited to be an uncle. True to his nature, when he got to spend time with his nephew, Nolan, Linc loved to act goofy and make Nolan laugh. The move also meant that Linc could spend more time with his brother. He and Cam would get lunch together every week. They went to the coast every New Years to play Fascination. Living in Oregon also meant that Linc was nearby for the birth of his niece, Ruby.
Through everything, whether it was the family vacations growing up or pushing through the unspeakable cruelty of brain cancer, Linc was absolutely uncompromising in the way he loved his family and friends. Perhaps this compassion was inspired by his dad, Tim Furrow, who would give Linc chocolate milk and snacks when he was sick. When one of Linc’s best friends, Kegan, visited from Japan, Linc bought a new bed, bedside lamps, and wall art to make sure that Kegan felt welcome. During the height of his cancer, Linc asked his partner, Celina, to read him Dune–not because he liked Dune but because it is Celina’s favorite, and he knew it would make her happy to read it to him.
Linc chose the most aggressive cancer treatments, knowing that those treatments would mean suffering for him. But he also knew that the treatments would give him a little more time with his loved ones. That’s the type of person he was. If he thought that he could make others happy, that he could make someone smile, the personal cost didn’t matter; Linc was willing to do whatever it took to make the world around him better. And for all the people who met him, the world was–and still is–a better place because he was in it.
Linc is survived by his brother, Cameron Furrow and his wife, Kim Michell; their children, Ruby and Nolan; his mother, Mary Furrow; and his partner, Celina.
Linc is preceded in death by his father, Tim Furrow.
