Leann Marie Stevenson (nee Hollett) passed away at St. Anne Hospital in Burien, WA on July 14, 2024, surrounded by her husband, parents, and siblings. Leann was born to James and Paula (Lindsey) Hollett in Portland, OR on August 2, 1968.
She was the eldest of five siblings: two sisters, a half sister and half brother. Leann attended Vestal Elementary and, upon application, was accepted into Benson Polytechnic High School - Health Occupations, graduating in 1986. She attended Mt. Hood CC, working diligently to achieve the positions she attained, including Dental Hygienist, Bank Teller, Auto Insurance Claims Adjuster and, ultimately, Workers’ Compensation Claims Lead Supervisor for Sedgwick Claims Management Services. She faced every job with a keen sense of duty, always doing what she deemed to be right, not always the easy path forward. She was one of the most honest and earnest people one could ever hope to meet.
Family was the most important aspect of Leann’s life…the family she was born into, those she was accepted into, and the ones she adopted through marriage, school, work, or friends she met along life’s path. At every opportunity, she would find a way to include family: trips to Disneyland, camping, wineries, or just sitting on the patio enjoying each other’s company.
Her passions were as diverse as the people she chose to include in her life: travel, camping, knitting, weaving, decorating, etc.
Growing up as a Camp Fire Girl, she attended summer camps at Camp Namanu in Sandy, OR. As an adult, she helped support this historic site, attending alumni and work weekends, thus keeping memories alive, and creating new ones by including her siblings.
Leann spurred on holiday family traditions such as bundling up nieces and nephews for the Christmas Parade in downtown Portland and making sure everyone got to see Santa. She loved creative knitting projects, making gifts for friends and family, which would take an inordinate amount of time, but were always a pleasure for her.
Travel was one of her greatest passions, whether an afternoon drive around the lake, an interstate road trip, or an overseas visit to the old world. Travel was another way for her to enjoy the great diversity of life, the varying cuisines of the world, and another chance to meet a new friend. Leann’s last great trip was to Vienna, Austria in December2023 to visit the wonderful Christmas Markets. She made sure to visit every single one so she could sample every type of Gluhwein (mulled-spiced wine) at each market. And, once she spotted the perfect small gift for someone, that meant she had to get everyone a small gift – no one was to be left out as she loved them all equally. Throughout her travels, she made sure to bring home artwork and decorative items to display at home. Decorating the house for each season and every holiday with gathered memorabilia was such a joy for her. Christmas was her favorite time of year; thus, her home was most festive from early December through Epiphany.
Leann was preceded in death by her father, James Hollett and is survived by her husband, Aaron Stevenson, her mother Paula Lindsey, stepfather Roy Lindsey, sisters Colleen Halen and Shauna Hodges, her half sister BriAnn Dillard and half brother Paddy Hollett, plus nieces, nephews and a great niece.
Leann will be greatly missed by all whose lives she has touched. Her infectious laughter and zest for life was unmatched and will forever remind us that each and every life we come across in our journey is precious.
