She was born on March 4, 1975 to Jerry and Janice Schmidt in Milwaukie, Oregon. Kim attended View Acres Grade School, McLoughlin Junior High, Clackamas High School and graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management.
Kim is survived by her parents, Jerry and Janice Schmidt. She married Michael Ramsthel in 2004. Kim is also survived by her sister, Kristy (Edmark); brother-in-law, Aaron; and niece, Lauren; as well as her stepdaughters, Alyssa and Kacie Ramsthel. She is also survived by her most dedicated companion, her Black Labrador Retriever, Jeb. Kim was a loyal and cherished friend to many.
For 20 years, Kim was a dedicated employee of the Collins Companies, where she worked in the accounting department as Assistant Controller. While she was a proud Portland Thorns soccer fan and season ticket holder, she was even more of a cheerleader for her niece Lauren - rarely missing any of her soccer games.
Never one to complain, her outlook on life, determination and resilience was consistently inspiring. Kim found comfort in Tim McGraw and his song “Live Like You Were Dying.” Through the non-profit organization Do it for the Love (who inspire hope & healing through the gift of live music experiences) she was able to realize a dream of meeting him and Faith Hill backstage at one of their concerts.
Kim was driven by the passion to help people. After her initial diagnosis of stage four metastatic breast cancer, she provided mentorship and support to others, as well as awareness and advocacy for increased research specifically for stage four metastatic breast cancer. Kim had a genuine kindness that could not be faked.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will not be a memorial service. Instead of flowers, the family recommends that donations be made to METAvivor (metavivor.org) or Do it for the Love (doitforthelove.org).
