Kathryn Marie Hambelton was born on January 17th, 1925 to parents Martin and Betty Colahan in Plainview, Kansas. She attended Sandy High School, graduating with the class of 1942. Kathryn married Samuel Lyons, who passed away serving our country in WWII in the Navy when his ship went down. She then went on to marry Alwin Newsom in 1948, who passed away on Jan 1st, 1957.
Kathryn was best remembered as being an exceptional homemaker and mother who kept a spotless home and cooked amazing food for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, canning foods, watching sports; she was a huge fan of the Trailblazers. Kathryn loved animals and was always there to help an animal in need.
She is predeceased by her husband, Harold Hambelton, brothers, Duane and Jim Colahan, and son, Sam Lyons. Kathryn is survived by four children, 12 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by friends and family alike. There will be a graveside service in honor of her memory on Sunday, August 18th, 2013 at 2pm at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland OR 97086.
