November 14, 1951 – December 19, 2011
Karen passed away peacefully in her home with family at her side. During the last month, Karen had many friends and family that visited and provided support to the family that cared for her. This was not surprising as Karen was well loved by all who met her. She was kind, generous, sincere, and full of grace and integrity.
Karen was born in Tacoma, Washington, but grew up in Boise, Idaho. Karen attended Capital High School in Boise. She graduated in 1970 and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1972, and worked at PGE. Karen attended Portland Community College in 1976 and graduated in 1978 with an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Illustrating. While working and going to college in Portland, she met her husband, John Peachey, playing tennis. John and his friend invited Karen and her friend to participate in a doubles match – it was a “match” made in heaven. Karen and John married May 12, 1979 at St. Cyril Catholic Church in Wilsonville, Oregon.
Karen worked in design for many years, but her real love was spending time with family, sewing design, gardening, homemaking, animals, traveling, and raising children. Karen had three stepdaughters that were part of her earlier life with John, but later had two sons. After years of raising children, Karen started her own embroidery business in Oregon City, Oregon, specializing in corporate logo wear and promotional products, in 2004.
Karen was always there for her family. She wanted to be at all of the milestones in the lives of her children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and her close friends’ children. There are many photos that she has taken over the years that display family functions and activities. Birthdays, holidays (especially 4th of July events in Westport and Christmas Eves at Oma’s), graduations, weddings and births of babies – Karen was always there.
Karen is survived by her husband, John; stepdaughters, Angela, Michelle, and Melissa; sons, Daniel and Mathew; seven grandchildren, Tessa, Kyle, Nicholas, Adrian, Lara Jade, Brooklyn, and Raegan; sister, Joline; and brother, Jim.
