(June 14, 1952 – October 24, 2011)
On the 24th day of October, 2011, Julie lost her 2 ½ year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Julie was born in Minneapolis, MN to James and Arlene Lovrien. The family moved to Washington and then Oregon where Julie graduated from Silverton Union High School in 1970.
One week after graduating from high school, Julie began her career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, eventually retiring in 1996 as a Personnel Management Specialist. She then went on to work for Clackamas County, first in the Department of Employee Services, and then the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, where she worked as an Administrative Assistant until her Leukemia diagnosis in April, 2009.
Throughout her battle, Julie kept a positive attitude and was always able to find humor and purpose in her illness. Her caring nature, sense of humor, and glass-half-full mentality made Julie well loved by her family, friends, and co-workers, who all pulled together to help her through her difficult journey.
Julie is survived by her mother, Arlene Lovrien; brothers, Craig and Brad Lovrien and their families; son, Jeremy Bliss; daughter and her spouse, Erin and Christopher Deloy; grandchildren, Tristan and Cohen Deloy, and longtime companion Vaomatua Pele. She was preceded in death by her father, James Lynn Lovrien.
Julie will be honored in a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 10:00 AM on Saturday the 29th of October, 2011 at the Lincoln Memorial Park Funeral Home located at 11801 SE Mt. Scott Blvd, Portland, OR 97086. The service will be followed by refreshments and then a drive in the Columbia River Gorge to the Portland Women’s Forum Overlook at Chanticleer Point just outside of Corbett on Historic Hwy 30, where Julie’s ashes will be spread. All are welcome and encouraged to observe the spreading of her ashes.
