Judith E. Juul passed away on January 15, 2016 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. She was born in North Bend, Oregon, to Ralph W. Juul and Mabel A. (Whittick) Juul on August 31, 1935. Judy attended North Bend public schools and graduated from North Bend High School in 1953. Upon graduation, she enrolled at Lewis and Clark College and graduated in 1957. Judy then began a career with the US Foreign Service which spanned 38 years until her retirement in 1995. Judy was posted in embassies throughout the world including Norway, Germany, Israel, the Congo, Union of South Africa, Vietnam, and Australia. She concluded her career in Washington, D.C. and retired to Portland, Oregon.
Judy enjoyed reading, the symphony, opera and theater arts in Portland. She attended many of these events as a regular patron with her college classmate and lifelong friend, Elise Meyers. Judy faithfully attended St. James Lutheran Church and was a member of the church council and attended various bible study groups and book clubs. She developed many friendships with members of the congregation and Pastor Dennis Andersen.
She is survived by her brother, Rudy, and his wife, Mary Jo, of North Bend. Other survivors include her niece, Kris Kautz, of Salem, OR, and her nephew, Greg Juul, of Hermiston, OR, as well as their respective spouses and children.
A memorial service will be held at St. James Lutheran Church, 1315 SW Park Avenue, Portland, OR, on Friday, January 22 at 10 am. Internment will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens.
