Joyce Elaine Moore, born on April 28, 1941, in Redding, California, to Ray and Sibyl Hyde, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 31, 2024, with her sons by her side. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pastor Charles Moore, and her sister, June. A devoted mother to Dale, Mark, Tracy, and Ben, Joyce’s life was marked by her unwavering love and dedication to her family.
She lived much of her life in Portland, Oregon, where she created a warm and loving home. Known for her kindness, generosity, and the comfort she brought to every gathering, her home was always a welcoming place for family and friends. Her dining table was the heart of her home, where she hosted countless dinners that brought people together. Her culinary skills were exceptional, and her meals were legendary, filled with love and laughter. Each meal was a celebration of life, family, and friendship, and she made every guest feel special and cherished.
With a unique gift of making each one of her sons feel as though he was her favorite, a testament to her boundless love and nurturing spirit. Her ability to listen and offer wise counsel made her a confidante and friend of many. Her strength of character was evident in all aspects of her life, especially in her later years when she pursued higher education.
Returning to school later in life and earned a degree in nursing. Her determination and dedication to helping others where she touched many lives with her compassion and expertise. She was a true inspiration, proving that it’s never too late to follow your dreams and make a difference.
Joyce is survived by her sisters, Linda and Donna. She also leaves behind her sons and their families: Dale (Diane) and their children Danica, Sammy, and Jasper; Mark (Candy) and their children Jacob and Lucas; Tracey (Anna) and their children Christian, Zachary, and Brandon. Her son Ben.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and resilience. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by her family, her extended family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit of kindness and her passion for life will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Rest in peace, Joyce.
Joyce will be laid to rest Wednesday June 26th.
There will be a ceremony June 29th @3pm in her home in Happy Valley Oregon.
