When he first moved to the US, he lived in El Paso, Texas and with his brother, he worked as a shoemaker and bartender. Later, he participated in the farm worker Bracero program. He met his wife Ercilia Aguillón (to whom he was married to for 66 years) in Los Angeles where they had a son and 2 daughters. Felipe worked as a sheet metal worker in El Segundo, CA. Felipe and his family moved to Oregon in August of 1978.
Felipe was a big Dodger's fan and he also enjoyed boxing and soccer. He loved music, specifically boleros sung by trios like Los Panchos and he enjoyed using dichos (sayings), his favorite meal, mole, that only his wife Ercilia could prepare well, his parrot Chomsky and celebrating birthdays and holidays with his family.
Up until his last moments, he encouraged his children and grandchildren to maintain their proud Mexican heritage, their language, and to always continue their education. These were very important things to him.
Felipe was very proud of his family, and they meant everything to him.
Felipe is survived by his wife Ercilia, son Jesus, 2 daughters Raquel and Esperanza, and 3 grandchildren (Kiara, Andrés and Alessandra)
