On Sunday, August 16th, 2020, John Robert Seidlitz passed away from complications of pneumonia at Providence Portland Medical Center. He had been battling brain cancer (Glioblastoma) for the last year. John was born April 24th, 1950 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Gilbert and Vivian Seidlitz. Shortly after they moved to Minnesota.
John had served in the US Army from 1970 to 1971. He moved to Portland in 1972 and attended Judson Baptist College where he met his wife-to-be Robin McMillen. They were married on December 20th, 1975. John then went to PSU where he received his bachelor degree in business.
John worked at Miller Nash Law Firm for forty years. He was a hard worker and very dedicated to his job. His witty humor and love for people made him many friends throughout the firm. He enjoyed his job and had no plans to retire in the near future, but due to his health condition he was unable to continue.
John was a sports fanatic and enjoyed following Minnesota sports. In addition, he was also a Portland Trailblazer fan. (Rip City!) Tennis was his favorite hobby and he always looked forward to getting together with his tennis buddies and playing a competitive match. Through his love of sports, he made a number of great friendships.
In 1972 he began attending Lents Baptist which lasted for almost twenty years where he was an Awana leader. Following Lents, he and the family joined Evangel Baptist where they were active members for more than 15 years. John was an elder there for a number of years. He and Robin then transitioned from Evangel to Village Baptist and was currently attending Imago Dei.
He is survived by his wife Robin, sons Ryan, Kyle, Andrew, daughter-in-law Monika, brother Jim and wife Joan, sister Mary Schloesser and husband Bob.
We want to express our appreciation and sincere thanks for all of the support, prayers, words, love, care, cards, flowers, and concern that the family has received. We plan to have a memorial service in the near future.
