John was a platoon leader with FIL during the Vietnam War, serving his country honorably.
He married Ban Nguyen in Nha Trang City in 1958, and she survives him.
Among his interests were writing, photography, reading, swimming, camping and hiking, and computers. He will be remembered as a well-spoken man, charismatic, humble, observant, and devoted, as well as thoughtful and gentle and, not least, patriotic. But his main concern was his family, and he was a traditional family-oriented father willing to provide and care for his loved ones with all of his might.
He will be missed.
A funeral service for John will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery, 11801 SE Mt Scott Blvd., Portland, Oregon.
