John Alexander Begg III passed away in Hillsboro, Oregon, on September 28, 2020. John, the firstborn son of Jane and John Begg, was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, on July 8, 1949. He developed a love of music while attending junior high and high school. John continued his education at Shoreline Community College and Eastern Washington University as a music major. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a focus in music composition. John was an accomplished trumpet player and passed his love of music and trumpet playing on to his daughter, Taylor. He began his teaching career as a secondary band director in Palmdale, California and continued in that role in Knappa, Oregon, and later in Winlock, Washington. After ten years of teaching, John worked as a financial planner until he retired.
John learned his love of hydroplane racing from his grandfather. That was a passion throughout his life which he shared with his brother, Rob, and his daughter. His collection of hydroplane memorabilia was extensive. He also enjoyed sports, classic movies, and gardening.
John was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister, Barbara, and his brother, Rob. He is survived by his wife, Christine, of forty three years, his daughter, Taylor Begg, his sister, Jan Begg, his nephews John Wolfred, Chuck Wolfred, Cyrus Biehl, and his nieces Elizabeth Munoz, Emily Ashby, and Lilia Biehl. John will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon.
