Jerry was beloved by his family, his friends, and the Portland Community in which he volunteered abundantly for throughout the years. He had style. He was a chef (specialty French food!). Loved to travel, go to the movies, theatre, music, and play with all his dogs and cat, Bob throughout the years. He was an empathic and deep feeling father and friend, who would always be there with a hug. The love of his life, Ira Streitfeld, predeceased him 12 years ago. Their 36 year love affair is still one everyone who knew them admired. Jerry came out later in life and lived an authentic and adventurous life with Ira. The rest of us tagged along with the party. He is survived by his beloved Granddaughter, Sadie Rae Holzman; His children Robin Heller, Glen Paul Freedman, and Cyndi Freedman who generously and lovingly took care of him in his last years, allowing him to stay in his cherished home on the wetlands. Jerry is on to his next adventure.
