Jane grew up in Portland where she graduated from Girls Polytechnic High School. She attended Oregon State College where she met her husband, Bill. They married in 1946 and raised their family in Portland.
Jane was known as a good friend; always reaching out to lend a helping hand, take in a meal, send an encouraging card, or make a phone call. Her genuine kindness and love was her hallmark. She always seemed to know how to make a person feel loved and special. Her home was always a haven for new and old friends, as well as her children and grandchildren. She had a way of making a meal a feast and there was always room for one more at the table. Jane’s sense of humor and wit brought delightful surprise to all who knew her. Her honest wisdom and advice guided those who confided in her and is cherished by those who received it. She taught by gentle example. She will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, and a “next level” human being by those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Eric and Beatrice Cranor, her stepmother, Margaret Cranor, her husband, William F. Johnson, her brother, Kenneth Saxon, and her granddaughter, Kristin Johnson.
She is survived by her children Thomas Johnson (Jane), Victoria Eick (Lee), and Patricia Turgesen (Paul), 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Remembrances can be made to Special Olympics, Shriner’s Hospital, or Evergreen Hospice House.
A memorial service will be planned for a future date after the Covid crisis has passed.
