Irene Gerd Elin Beers

Services for Irene will be held on Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at Skyline Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home beginning at 11:30am; 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR 97229.

Irene was born in Stockholm, Sweden on September 15th, 1943. She was the first of two beautiful girls, born to Axel and Vivan Svensson. Inger was born a few years after Irene.

In 1956, Axel, Vivan, and their girls boarded a ship headed for New York City. Irene was 12 years old at that time. The family initially lived in Disston, Oregon. The girls attended school. Axel worked as a logger.

After 6 months or so, the family relocated to Portland, Oregon. Axel accepted a welding position with Gunderson Brothers. Irene attended Lents Grade School, Madison High School, and graduated from Marshall High School. Gymnastics was Irene's talent, this along with her beauty, won her many beauty contests.

Irene met Dick in March of 1963, and they fell in love! They married February 8, 1964. The couple were blessed with two beautiful children, Terri Linn born March 24th, 1965; and David Allan on August 21st, 1969. As a family, they enjoyed camping and waterskiing.

Irene enjoyed working for Tektronix where she had five patents and many trade secrets.

Upon requirement, fishing became Dick and Irene's favorite pastime, with Irene holding the trophy for catching the most and largest of the trout and salmon/

Irene moved to Bonaventure Memory Care on March 3rd, 2022. She was visited by family members almost daily.

Jesus gently took her into his arms on February 25th, 2023 at 5:30 in the evening.
