Ilaben Patel was born in Umrakh, India in September 1954. She was a middle child, with two older sisters and two younger brothers. She moved across the world to the United States shortly after marrying Thakorbhai Patel in 1973, and lived in the Bay Area for the next 5 years.
The young couple moved to Portland, Oregon in 1978, and ran a successful motel (Marco Polo Motel / Economy Inn) until retirement. Ilaben loved to spend time with her family, loved to cook for them, and enjoyed sharing what she knew with others.
She is survived by her three sons (Paresh, Jitesh, Chetan), daughter Priti, daughter-in-law Trupti, and grandchildren Avni and Nishan.
Family prayer service will be held Tuesday, August 29th at 5pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary, 6801 SW Sunset Hwy, Portland, OR 97225.
