Harriet “Liza” Moses, beloved life partner of her husband Michael Moses, her sons Andrew and Daniel, and her grandsons Cole, Sam, Jake, and Ryan, died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning of December 14, 2023.
Liza was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She went to college at Northwestern University, graduating in 1963 with majors in economics and art history. Liza and Mike married in 1964. Liza went on to graduate school and received her master’s degree in economic history at UCLA in 1968. At age 40, looking for a further challenge, she went back to school, starting law school at New York University. After graduating law school, Liza went to work for LeBoeuf Lamb in New York City. Liza became a partner there in 1994. Liza worked there for her entire career, retiring in 2006.
Since retirement, Liza and her husband have split their time between New York City and Portland, Oregon, so she could fully enjoy her time with her sons’ families. After retirement, Liza also returned to interests she had before she became an attorney. Liza took up bridge and became a Silver Life Master in short order. She also started painting, taking many classes, and creating many small works of art, especially during the years of COVID. More recently, Liza picked up mahjong and played with her friends in Portland. Liza was also an avid reader and enjoyed the Sunday Times crossword puzzles.
Liza will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
